We are an interdisciplinary team consisting of lawyers specialising in guarantee and loan collateral law as well as construction and architectural law, business experts and civil engineers. As guarantee managers, we examine the utilisation of guarantees from a construction and legal perspective.
TORSTEN STEINWACHS

Mr. Torsten Steinwachs has more than 30 years of professional experience in restructuring and insolvency administration. His career began as a banking lawyer in risk management at BHF Bank, followed by positions at ING Bank Deutschland AG and later at HERMANN Attorneys-at-Law, Auditors, and Tax Advisors. There, he worked on major high-profile cases including Philipp Holzmann AG, Babcock Borsig, and Walter Bau AG.

In addition to this, he advises banks/ credit insurers and companies on the national and international level in the context of the issue of guarantees and in the event of an assertion of guarantee-related claims.
He is a lecturer in economic private law at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management – FOM – in Frankfurt am Main, and for restructuring and insolvency management at the International School of Management – ISM – in Frankfurt am Main.
Torsten Steinwachs has published on the subject of guarantees in the publications Bankenkommentar zum Insolvenzrecht (3rd ed. 2016) and Rechtssicheres Avalgeschäft (4th ed. 2020) as well as on the subject of loan collateral in Fachanwaltsbuch für Banken- und Kapitalmarktrecht (5th ed. 2019).

ROBIN STEINWACHS
Managing Director at BMS
Mr. Robin Steinwachs studied business law in Frankfurt am Main and Hamburg, with a particular focus on surety law and insolvency law. With six years of professional experience in surety management, he possesses extensive expertise in drafting and reviewing guarantees and surety bonds. In addition, he earned the title of Certified Legal Tech Manager and has used it to implement innovative technologies in legal contexts.
Alongside his work at BMS, Robin Steinwachs also qualified as an insurance specialist (§ 34d GewO). This dual qualification enables him to provide our clients with comprehensive advice on insurance-related matters and to develop tailored solutions.
In his free time, Robin Steinwachs devotes himself to sporting activities, such as water sports with a CW (coastat waters) licence.

SÖREN QUENT

Mr. Sören Quent has 20 years of professional experience in restructuring and insolvency administration. His career began as a risk manager at Gerling Speziale Kreditversicherung AG, where he worked on several major cases in the construction and plant engineering industries. He then moved to the Corporate Finance division of a Big Four consulting firm.
In addition, Sören Quent regularly serves as an interim manager in restructuring proceedings. He assumes responsibility for the operational continuation of insolvent companies on behalf of insolvency administrators and manages both national and international surety claims.
Sören Quent gives lectures on topics such as operational restructuring, guarantee management and leadership.

KARL NIEßLER

Mr. Karl Nießler has been active in commercial, corporate, tax, and insolvency law for more than 30 years. He has extensive experience in legal consulting, litigation, and in his work as an insolvency administrator.
A particular focus of his work in the context of insolvency proceedings lies in advising and representing stakeholders, especially public-sector credit institutions.
For many years, Karl Nießler has also served as a member of various committees of public-sector institutions, giving him both comprehensive theoretical and practical expertise in the specific legal issues faced by these institutions.
